    What Financial Resources Determine Whether I Get SSI Benefits?

    People applying for SSI disability benefits are often unsure whether they meet the financial requirements. In addition to limited ongoing income, you also have to show you have limited “resources.”

    But what are “resources?”

    This is what counts as resources:

    • Bank accounts

    • Stocks

    • Bonds

    • Land

    • Vehicles

    • Life insurance

    An individual cannot have countable resources worth more than $2,000. A couple cannot exceed $3,000.

    • Household goods
