Proposed Legislation Threatens the Rights of Injured Workers

Injured workers are under attack!

There are many problems in the workers’ compensation system. Despite these issues, insurance companies continue to make record profits each year. These companies are now attempting to pass legislation that would further erode the rights of injured workers.

These proposals have multiple negative effects on the rights if injured workers such as:

• Eliminating the right of the worker to choose their own doctor and instead force the injured worker to treat with a doctor selected by the insurance company.
• Eliminating the right of an injured worker to have their prescription medicine paid for by the insurance company.
• Eliminating the right of an injured worker to collect lost wages if they are unable to return to work earning their normal pay.
• Eliminating the right of an injured worker to receive medical treatment for their entire life.
• Eliminating the workers’ compensation judges and replacing them with a panel whose members are hand-selected by the insurance companies.
